Marie-Christine Statz, born 1982 in Germany, is the designer and founder of the French prêt-à-porter house GAUCHÈRE.
After her studies in Economics, Marie-Christine received her education in Fashion Design at New York’s Parsons School of Design, following roles as Assistant Designer at Narciso Rodriguez in 2008 and Diane von Furstenberg in 2009. After leaving Diane von Furstenberg, Marie-Christine decided to move to Paris and received a special qualification in Haute Couture at the Ecolede la Chambre Syndicale de la Couture Parisienne. With her own vision in mind, Marie-Christine presented her first collection GAUCHÈRE Spring/Summer 2013 along with the official launch of the brand during Paris fashion week. In 2014 she was among the finalists of the ANDAM award.
Today, GAUCHÈRE presents four collections per year (Pre Fall, Fall Winter, Spring, Summer) with Défilés in March and September during Paris Fashion Weeks. The collections are being sold by selective retailers in France, Italy, the United States, Japan, China and Korea. Gauchere has been named ‘label to watch‘ by Women’s Wear Daily and is widely publicised in international press such as Vogue, Elle, Madame Figaro, Le Monde, L’Officiel, Numero, W Magazine, Self Service, Interview and Flaunt.
