In keeping true to his roots, Christian Wijnants has expanded his womenswear into a special men’s collection, focusing on wool-rich knitwear.

Contrary to the general pace of the fashion industry, Christian Wijnants has slowly and steadily built his brand over the last 15 years, and now a much-requested menswear line has been released. “We did a small menswear capsule many years ago for a few fans and clients. It was an immediate success and friends kept on asking for new men’s styles, so the idea has been in the works for years. I wanted to approach this collection thoughtfully at my pace,” says Wijnants.

Every jumper in the collection features wool, either in carefully selected blends or 100% Merino wool, which lends itself perfectly to the round knits Wijnants has become known for. This circular knitting technique is seamless, allowing for no waste and great comfort for the wearer. Wijnants also flexed his proverbial design muscles in the complex jacquard, intarsia and 3D sweaters.

After working with Dries Van Noten in Antwerp and Angelo Tarlazzi in Paris, Christian launched his eponymous label in 2003 and ten years later, won the International Woolmark Prize in 2013. Soon following this, the Belgian designer gained a spot on the official Paris Fashion Week womenswear schedule – a place he still holds today – and his garments are currently stocked in some 60 stores in more than 20 countries. This new knitwear collection will drop in stores in June, 2019.
