Highlighting the beauty of the Merino wool fibre at the hands of the world’s finest designers.

The Woolmark Company is pleased to announce the global nominees for the International Woolmark Prize 2013/14.

Twenty-one nominating bodies from across the world have selected 48 of the most important emerging designers from Asia, Australia, Europe, Middle East and USA. Each nominee will design a capsule collection made from Merino wool and present six sketches along with one complete look to a panel of industry experts at one of five regional events held in June and July.

The winner from the regional final will receive a financial contribution towards their next collection, as well as an invitation to participate in next year’s international final hosted at Milan Fashion Week.

Once again the most outstanding Merino wool collection will be awarded the International Woolmark Prize, AU $100,000 and be stocked in leading retailers across the globe, including Harvey Nichols in London, Joyce in China and David Jones in Australia.


The Asia regional award is open to designers based in China, Hong Kong, Japan and South Korea. Ten nominees have been selected by the official nominating bodies which include: Hong Kong Fashion Designers Association (HKFDA), China Fashion Association (CFA), Japan Fashion Week Organization (JFW), Korea Fashion Association (KFA) and Vogue China.

The Asia regional awards event will be held in Hong Kong.

Eight finalists have been selected by the region’s official nominating body; IMG Australia. The judging event and Australian finalist announcement will be held in Sydney.

Ten nominees have been selected by European industry leaders in the respective countries, including; British Fashion Council, Czech Grand Design, Flanders Fashion Institute, Istanbul Fashion Week, Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid, Not Just A Label, Premsela: The Netherlands Institute for Design and Fashion, Vogue France and Vogue Italy.

The European judging and announcement event will be held in Milan.

India and Middle East regional award invites designers from India, UAE, Pakistan and Lebanon. Official nominating bodies for the region include: Fashion Design Council of India, Pakistan Fashion Design Council, Dubai Fashion Week and Starch Foundation of Lebanon as official nominating bodies for the region.

The regional final for India and Middle East will be held in New Delhi.
